White Plains Whistleblower Attorneys

Whistleblowers — those who report that their employers are engaging in illegal activities — are granted wide-ranging protections under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other state and federal laws. Frumkin & Hunter LLP has the in-depth understanding of all the protections and requirements of whistleblower laws, and uses this knowledge to the benefits of employees and employers throughout New York.

We offer whistleblower representation to employees and employers in many different fields. Those in health care, federal banking, nuclear power, public service, construction and defense manufacturing industries, as well as those in other industries not listed here, all benefit from our more than three decades of legal experience. Regardless of the type of business involved, we provide our clients with the direct attention and responsive communication they deserve.

Orange County Whistleblower Protection

While some actions, such as making threats against an employee, offer clear violations of the whistleblower laws, many situations are not as easy to interpret. It can be difficult to determine whether an employer's actions are the part of legitimate business purposes or are the result of employer retaliation. Actions that commonly come into question in state and federal whistleblower law claims include:

  • Termination of employment
  • Reduction of pay or hours
  • Denial of promotion
  • Increased expectations
  • Demotion of the employee
  • Job reassignment
  • Denial of benefits

Whether these or other actions are involved, we have the technical knowledge, network of investigators and experts, and resources needed to effectively represent both employees and employers in whistleblower disputes.

Featured Case: Morin v. Tormey, 626 F.3d 40 (2d Cir. 2010)

In this case, a court clerk was asked by a judge to spy on another judge who was a member of a rival political party. Refusing to do so, the clerk was moved to a dank basement area that leaked water, transferred to a work site far from her home and eventually demoted.

Attorney William Frumkin successfully argued on behalf of the clerk, who was protected under federal whistleblower laws and achieved a significant monetary settlement for her.
